Making Kringle Mat (6) CWe have now confirmed that the first meeting will take place:

Wednesday the 14th October.
Royal Dorset Yacht Club.  11 Custom House Quay, Weymouth, DT4 8BG.
Timings. start 19:30, end sometime after 21:00. (that’s about 7 to 9 pm for normal people).
(hopefully) a small buffet will be laid on.
Richard Hopkins (Bristol Branch) will be on the door to greet you with a sticker and a smile.
Parking. There are 6 car parks within walking distance and (as far as I know) they are free after 18:00 (6 pm)

The meeting will be informal with the main aim of:

1.  Introducing The International Guild of Knot Tyers.  Ken Yalden, who is the Chairman of Trustees, founder member of the Guild and Chairman of the Solent Branch will speak on the history and structure on the Guild.
2.  Agreeing the frequency of meetings. e.g.  the first Wednesday in even numbered months.
3.  Discussing what we want to learn and how we are going to achieve it. Sources and books on Knots. Apps and Internet.
4.  Agreeing that, at some time in the future, we will need to elect officers for the Branch, discuss finances if needed, a website if needed, stand hardware and volunteers to man it etc.  We are extremely fortunate in that Peter Goldstone, a founder member having previously held several Guild Officer positions, has agreed to be our Secretary.
Note:  Look at the Solent Branch website, which is a mine of information, and, in particular, at the Weymouth Waterfest article on the Blog page.
Also have a look at which is the main website where you will find more details on the Guild and membership information.
Looking forward to seeing you on the 14th October.
