IGKT AGM 2019 Programme
The IGKT Dorset Branch would like to invite you to the 2019 AGM – ‘Jurassic 19’
Held in Weymouth, Dorset UK, 9-12th May 2019
The venue will be the Nothe Fort, a defensive structure built in the 19th century to protect the strategic port of Weymouth. The fort is located on a hill at the entrance to Weymouth harbour & contains many displays of coastal defence, massive gun emplacements & weaponry together with stunning views of the coast. The fort is constructed on 3 levels with full stairs & lift access & is designed to entertain all age groups.
Weymouth is a Georgian town in the centre of the Jurassic Coast region of Dorset & East Devon, famous for fossils & dinosaur remains.

Thursday 9th May:
Excursion available to Brownsea Island ( Island in Poole Harbour) Stunning views, peacocks, red squirrels, activity centre, ‘Mecca of Scouting’ – site of Baden Powell experimental camp 1907 & shop-mini museum, cafe-restaurant (Operated by National Trust/Scout-Guiding). Buggy tours for less-able visitors. Trip includes the ferry Poole – Brownsea & a return ferry cruise around Poole Harbour (largest world natural harbour after Sydney)
Cost will be:
Train to/from Weymouth-Poole £14 (if required) Brownsea ferry £11 National Trust landing fee £7(if not a member)

Registration kiosk all day. Talk(s) & demo sessions at the Ship Inn, Custom House Quay, Weymouth, Dorset DT4 8BE
Possible talks ‘Bushcraft’ Roped Access to Non-Scaffolded Structures
Set up displays in Nothe Fort through day
Light refreshments available in the Nothe café all day
Saturday 11th May:
10:30–17:30 Assembly & displays together with public open day in the Nothe Fort
Light Refreshments in the Nothe café through the day
18:30 for 19:00 start – Evening IGKT dinner & musical entertainment by the ‘Skint Imperials’ in the Ship Inn
Sunday 12th May:
10:30 Morning AGM
C 13:00 Lunchtime & closure of event
We hope to include the regular noon gun firing event from the emplacements

The Nothe Fort is located at the end of Barrack Road, Weymouth Dorset DT4 8UF. Car parking is immediately adjacent to the site (All day charge £6) There is plenty of additional parking in adjacent Weymouth centre (10min walk) if the local parking is full. Evening parking in Weymouth is free.
Weymouth rail station – main line from London Waterloo (c2hrs) is about a 20mins walk from the fort
Regional airports are Southampton, Exeter, Bristol & Bournemouth all linked to Weymouth by rail
