The Bosun’s Call or the Bosun’s Pipe
In the main title of this blog post, I have called it the Bosun’s Whistle Lanyard Knot. However, there are many a Bosun’s out there that will correct you on calling the actual instrument a whistle. It is more often referred to as a Bosun’s Call or a Bosun’s Pipe. I have included the word whistle, as many people will not recognise call or pipe, but they will now!

What is a Bosun's Call or Pipe Used For?
The bosun’s call or pip is used to give commands, pass information or sounded as part of a saluting ceremony when I high ranking officer comes on-board a ship. There are various different tunes or warbles that sailors understand without the need of verbal information.
