Featuring Knotwork by Armando Tasso
Well we all know that Italy is famous for the beautifully designed Ducati and Ferrari, let me introduce to you featured knotter, Armando, who’s knotwork also comes under that classic category, yep our featured knotter comes from Italy. Sadly I will not be able to feature all of his work here, but I have selected some examples that will inspire you. You will often see Armando’s work in L’ANTICA ARTE MARINARA on Facebook.
Decorative Knotted Bottles
When I first came across Armando’s work, it was the knotted bottles that struck me as being beautiful works of art. Below is wonderful example of his decorative knotwork. At the very top is a Globe Knot, then followed by a Turks Head. Then the main body of the bottle is covered with variations of hitching.
Decorative Knotted Key Fobs
Wouldn’t you just love to put your keys on one of these key fobs!! The added touch of giving them a nautical theme and with the addition of a shackle to hold your keys. Once again using simple hitching creates a beautiful object.
Rope Bow Fender
If I had a boat, I would love a bow fender like this one. I would spend all day just going in and out of a port, showing off my fender.
Knotted Needle Case
Finally we all love a good needle case, so why not one like this with simple Spiral Hitching and a Globe Knot for a stopper. If you are thinking of creating your own needle case, consider some form of Grafting or hitching, as they produce a very pleasing pattern.
I would just like to thank Armando for allowing me to show some of his work on this site.
