The Gnat Hitch is a fairly new knot on the block. I did read somewhere that it was first documented in 2012. This knot came about when there was a search for a very simple and jam resistant knot that would also achieve good security and grip when tied around an object.

The Gnat Hitch has also been compared to the Buntline Hitch, which does a similar job. It has also been noted that the Gnat Hitch is easier to tie than the Buntline Hitch. #LetsGetKnotting
